Why did we design this workshop?

Teaching educators to think like designers empowers them to create purposeful learning experiences allowing every lesson to become an opportunity for meaningful engagement, with clear goals and intentional activities.

By focusing on purposeful design and student empowerment, educators can reignite their passion and create more fulfilling classroom experiences.

By shifting from a "good enough" mentality to a design-thinking approach, we can create classrooms where both students and teachers thrive.

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

1. Adopt a design thinking approach to education, prioritizing empathy, problem-solving, and experimentation in creating active learning experiences.

2. Encourage a classroom environment where risk-taking, creativity, and experimentation are valued and celebrated.

Methodology
Dr. Holland runs very interactive workshops that combine individual reflection, small group collaboration, and large group direct instruction.
She will cover the topics by completing direct instruction and then leading participants through purposeful activities to help them apply what they have learned.
The group will complete reflection activities to better understand how to implement what they’ve learned further.
She will provide personalized feedback, peer feedback and collaborative opportunities for sharing. She believes in using the professional development time to complete the work necessary and prepare educators for implementation upon leaving the session.
